Teratogen(Homa Art Gallery 2014)

This is a series about disobedience of cells; about the revolt of meiosis. When the body goes insane and improvises. Cells who instead of working the development of organs, decide to play their own game. Cells who take control and reject symmetry. My body has many such rebellious cells.
I begin a new series facing the body which has made my life experience. A new soul is born. On plain paper, my embryos are born out of red and brown stains running into each other. I dip my brush into a blood clot and when it reaches the paper, wet in wet, an infant is born out of chance which is I. A drop of water, nothing but itself: just white. A drop same as its background. I pass the paper through the press and white is multiplied onto white.
*Teratogen: In etymology, from the Greek root ‘Teras’, meaningmonster or traumatic. It refers to any environmental element
which causes harm to the fetus.
